Car Insurance in Wenatchee, WA
Looking for car insurance in Wenatchee? Blue Horizon Insurance and Financial Services LLC is a local independent agency at 12 S Wenatchee Ave. We are not the insurance company. We shop several insurance companies we represent for you, using one set of facts about your drivers and vehicles, and explain each option in plain English before you choose.
We help drivers in Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, and across Chelan and Douglas County, and we are licensed in Washington and Idaho. We have also been Ramsey Trusted / Dave Ramsey endorsed for 10+ years, a helpful second check for some shoppers.
How do car insurance agents in Wenatchee shop companies for you?
A captive agent sells one company's policies. An independent agency like ours compares more than one company for the same household. You tell us once who drives, what you drive, where the cars are parked overnight, and how you use them. We run that same story through the companies we represent and lay the options side by side, so you compare like for like.
The company you pick issues the policy. We stay your local contact for ID cards, changes, and claim questions.
Which insurance companies do you compare?
Depending on your drivers, vehicles, and driving record, we may compare options from companies we represent, including Travelers, Progressive, Safeco (now sold under the Liberty Mutual name), Foremost, National General, and Bristol West. Not every company writes every driver or vehicle, and we only shop markets we can actually place.
What car insurance does Washington require?
To drive a vehicle registered in Washington, you need liability insurance (or another approved form of financial responsibility) with limits of at least:
- $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person in one accident
- $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people in one accident
- $10,000 for damage to other people's property in one accident
Those are minimums, not a recommendation. Many drivers look at higher limits to better match what they own; we explain the choices and you decide.
You also need to show proof of insurance if law enforcement asks. Your insurance ID card works, including on your phone. Failing to show proof is a traffic infraction.
Washington insurers must also offer underinsured motorist coverage (it can help when the at-fault driver has little or no insurance, or in some hit-and-run cases) and personal injury protection (PIP). You can turn either down, but only in writing. What each pays depends on your policy terms.

What is different about driving in the Wenatchee Valley?
Local driving shapes the coverage questions we ask:
- Crossing the Columbia. Wenatchee and East Wenatchee sit on opposite sides of the river, so trips between them cross the Senator George Sellar Bridge (SR 285) or the Richard Odabashian Bridge (US-2/US-97). Your commute, garaging ZIP (98801 and 98802 can rate differently), and yearly miles belong on the quote.
- Winter passes. Trips west on US-2 over Stevens Pass or south on US-97 over Blewett Pass mean snow, ice, and WSDOT traction and chain rules. Sliding into a guardrail or ditch is usually a collision claim, so know whether you carry collision and what your deductible is. Our Stevens and Blewett Pass winter driving guide covers the traction tire rules.
- Deer on valley and canyon roads. Deer are most active around dawn and dusk. On most policies, hitting an animal is handled under comprehensive (other-than-collision) coverage rather than collision.
- Orchard season. During apple and pear harvest, slower farm equipment and bin trucks share rural roads around the valley. Leave room and expect wide turns.
- Tourist traffic. Expect heavier traffic on US-2 toward Leavenworth and US-97A toward Lake Chelan on summer and festival weekends.

Can I shop car insurance if I already have a policy?
Yes. Many people who call us already have insurance and want a second look after a renewal, a new car, or a newly licensed teen. Have your declarations page handy if you can, so we can quote the coverage you have now and compare fairly.
We will not tell you to cancel anything. If you decide to switch, the new policy should start before the old one ends so you never have a gap. Here is how switching mid-term in Washington works.
Do I have to bundle car and home insurance?
No. Auto-only customers are welcome. If you own or rent, it can be worth comparing home insurance or renters insurance at the same time, since some companies offer multi-policy discounts. When it fits, we show it both ways.
Do you help with SR-22s, new drivers, and work vehicles?
Yes. We also help with SR-22 filings when the state requires one. We quote new and teen drivers, financed cars, and leased cars. A vehicle used for a business, like a contractor pickup or a work truck, usually belongs on a commercial policy; see commercial insurance for commercial auto and trucking.
What should I have ready for a car insurance quote?
- Driver's license info for every household driver
- Year, make, model, and VIN for each vehicle if you have it
- Where each car parks overnight and rough yearly miles
- Your current declarations page and renewal date, if insured now
- Any recent tickets, accidents, or claims
